I am Outi, a photojournalist from Helsinki. I work as a photographer and a photojournalist, engaging in a variety of subjects. I have also worked as a photo editor for Helsingin Sanomat.
Recently I have had the honor of winning the Finnish photojournalist's best news photo of the year 2024, photo reportage of 2023 with the story of " Saaren erakko" and Editgaala's best media story of 2023 with the story of "This is how the vulva looks like". I was also chosen as the New Photojournalist of 2022 in Finland.
As a freelancer, I have done a variety of assignments for different kinds of media and organizations (e.g. HS, Lännen Mediat, the City of Helsinki, Finnish Fefugee Council, Save the Children, SLL). In addition to that, I am working on my own book project, which follows the everyday life of asylum seekers who came to Finland in 2015.
As a photojournalist, I want to focus on inclusive representation.
My heart beats for puppies, vegan food, urban culture, nature and human rights.
